~Last Visit at Grandma's~

The past few days have been very long for me and my family. My Grandma has been very sick for a long time with numerous things, because of being 83 years old. But after a long few days, she went home to be with The Lord. She said she was ready to go and went peacefully in her sleep, with all of us that could be there, by her side.

While I was there with her and the family, I drank a LOT of coffee and visited the Ladies' room frequently. I really liked this picture that was hanging on the wall and decided to take a picture of it. :)

And this is the wallpaper in the bathroom. I thought it was so cute too. :)

This is a picture of my Grandma, holding me and with my brother, who has also gone on to be with The Lord. She will be missed greatly, by all of us!

If I'm quiet for a few days, it's just because of the funeral and being busy with family!! I'll be back soon. :)

Hugs & Blessings,

~My Mother's House~

It was a rainy day, a few days ago, when I visited my sweet Mama and asked if I could take some pics of her house for my blog. She was hesitant because she was doing laundry and didn't want to have her home look like a laundromat. LOL

So, I just took a few pics of things around her home. This is the entry walk up to her porch.

She has such a nice sitting area on her porch but all I could get a pic of was the side of it because I didn't want to go out in the rain to take a pic of the whole porch. LOL

She bought this little wreath recently when we shopping together. She usually changes her wreaths frequently.

When you step inside, this little table is on the left. I don't know where she got it but I love it.

And this is on the left from the door. She got this armoire at a school auction several years ago and it is really nice to store coats in.

I have more pics to share in another post and hope to get more pics when the sun is shining and no rain. :)

Check back on Monday's posting for a new website on Romantic Cottages!!

~Visiting At Grandma's~

Yesterday, we went to visit my Grandma. She lives in a nursing home that is one of the nicest nursing homes around. (In my opinion anyway....:) We like to take her up in the visiting area where it is more private and we can visit with her without interruptions. She wouldn't want me to post any pictures of her on here so I am posting pics of the dining table, where we sit, instead. I love to sit here because the chairs are so comfortable and the table is so elegant. (I wish my dining table was as elegant as this one.) :)

Can you see the detail of the design on the edge of the table and then on the pedestal leg below?

Sorry Grandma....you got in this pic just a little bit. But I don't think that anyone will really notice. :)

These chairs have extra filling in them to plump them up, for sitting that is soooooo comfy.

More on the detailing along the edge.

This is the corner chair and some of the chairs on the other side of the table are like this one.

Grandma really enjoyed our visit. We have a calendar in her room that we all sign our names on when we go to visit her. That way we can see everyone who has visited her and on what day, at a quick glance. We remind her of who has visited and it helps her to have something to talk about and remember a good day.
Have a HAPPY weekend ya'll!!! :)
Hugs & Blessings,

~About Me~

Brenda Kay over at Country Romance posted a questionnaire for bloggers to get to know more about one another and I think that this is wonderful idea. You can copy and paste these questions on your blog and link back to me so that I can learn more about you. I look forward to reading about all of you.

1)What is your name... Katherine, Katherine Darling, Mama
2)Where are you from... I live in southern Missouri but I was born in California and then raised in southern Missouri. Lived in New Orleans for a year and south Texas several years
3)If you could live any place where would it be... I love living in the Ozarks but if I could move out in the country in a little cottage home, I would like it better than living in town. I would like to visit many places though, in my own home on wheels. LOL I love the mountains and hill country the best
4)What are your hobbies...I love cooking, thrifty shopping, decorating, playing music, reading and spending time with family & friends
5)Speaking of family how many children do you have? I have two daughters, Alissa 19 and Shanna almost 18
6) Are you Married...Yes I am married to my husband Jim Darling for almost 22 years now
7) How did you meet... We met in New Orleans at a restaurant. It was a blind date
8) Are you a Christian...Yes I am. I am not perfect but I have a relationship with God and try to serve Him in my daily life. I was saved at the tender age of 8 years old and raised in a Christian home. I have prayed with several others and blessed to see them come to know the salvation of God too. What a blessing it is to be a Christian!!!
9)If you could go any where right now where would it be... There are so many places that I would like to visit. Not main tourist attractions though. I like the private quiet out of the way type places
10.Who do you think you are most like...People say that I am most like my sweet Mama

Have a Blessed day!

~My Daughter's Violin Poem~

~The Violin~

Alone in an attic stored away,
without being played, untouched and neglected
There's a beautiful instrument
Waiting for someone with care to find it,
to bring life back to the silent strings
There's a feel of a warm hand on the bow,
The wood is nestled under a soft chin,
After years of still silence,
the bow's smoothe hair touches the strings
Gently gliding through the air
The silence in the room is filled with a sweet melody of harmony and peace

2007 Award-Winning Recipe!
Alissa Lane * From Missouri ---
“At sixteen years old, growing herbs is a hobby of mine and I also love to bake. When I found a recipe for Rosemary Cookies in a magazine one day, I decided to try them. However, the recipe called for lemon zest and since I didn’t have a lemon, I decided to try fresh lemon balm instead. The cookies turned out wonderfully and everyone said that they tasted like they were fresh from the bakery.” We think so too, Alissa. Thank you!

They Are A Little Bit Of Sunshine

They're a little bit of sunshine

They're a smile to light your days

They will steal your heart and keep it

With their warm enduring ways

They're your precious little daughters

With a sweetness from above

Who will fill your years with laughter

And your lives with lots of love
